Platinum Diamond

Screw Backs (threaded backs) offer a greater degree of security for diamond earrings than do friction backs. It is nearly impossible for a screw back (threaded back) diamond stud to slip out of the ear. As a negative, many people find screw backs (threaded backs) difficult to put on and remove. But, if you often lose earrings with friction backs, screw backs (threaded backs) may be the right choice for you.

Friction Backs are easier to put on and remove than screw backs (threaded backs). Premier Jewelry friction back studs have 2 notches on the post, making it unlikely that they will slip off by accident while being worn, but they still do not have the same security as screw backs (threaded backs). Friction backs are a good choice for everyday wear diamond studs, or if you rarely lose an earring while wearing it.

Settings
Premier Jewelry settings are handcrafted with attention to details. Diamond studs should sit flat against the ear, and the style and quality of a setting can make a difference - balance is the determining factor. Settings are meant to be designed so the diamond sits as far back toward the post as possible.

Four-prong Basket-style: In this style, the diamonds are set lower in the basket than other basket-settings, pulling the center of gravity toward the ear lobe. This causes the diamond to sit flat against the ear when worn and creates a good fit.

Three-prong Martini-style: In this style, the diamonds are set low in the basket, pulling the center of gravity toward the ear lobe. The three prong settings create an elegant look with less metal to obstruct the diamond. For many people, this is the best fit. This setting is only available with Round Brilliant cut diamonds.

Crown style: The crown style pushes the diamond forward in the setting, resulting in a stud that droops when worn. For this reason, Premier Jewelry does not carry crown style settings.
