Diamond Engagement Rings

Diamonds are becoming the most common trend in engagement rings. In fact, men as much as women now wear diamonds in engagement rings and wedding bands. Diamond engagement rings have been around for long and the symbol of the man going down on his knee and offering a diamond ring is the most typical personification of an engagement.

Some men get quite creative when it comes to proposing to their beloved and some do it the more traditional way, but the diamond engagement ring always remains an intrinsic part of the entire event. Whether you want to give it to her up-front or put it in her ice cream, the glittery stone makes an eternal mark. Since you do it only once, every man wants to get it just right and getting the perfect ring is the most crucial part.

Picking the right diamond engagement ring is not all that easy. For one, you are spoilt for choice and on the other hand, budgets can be quite a restraint. But most people tend to stretch their budget for that one special occasion. Apart from money, there are many other aspects to consider when you buy a diamond engagement ring.

Most buyers have a remote vision of what they are looking for. If you have no idea what you might like, try to look around for pictures or samples of styles that may suit your taste before you enter a shop. Once you enter a jewelry store the sheer variety of diamond engagement rings are likely to confuse you. Vaguely knowing what you like can help you narrow down to a fewer number of rings and you are less likely to test the patience of the jewelry store salesperson too!

On the technical side, a diamond engagement ring should be judged by its style. If your fiancée has thin long fingers a different setting is likely to suit her hands. On the other hand, if she has shorter thicker fingers, you may go for a more chunky design. The crucial thing to notice is the stone setting. The two most preferred diamond engagement ring settings are the trinity and the solitaire. You will also have to pick the metal color. The most common choices in metals are white gold, yellow gold and platinum.

Another crucial thing to take heed when you buy a diamond engagement ring, is to make sure you check for its certification to avoid any duplicates. A hallmarked certificate of testing must accompany such an expensive purchase.

  1. As far as choosing a metal for the setting, you want to make sure you get a metal that will display your diamond well and hold it securely. Yellow gold will show its color in the diamond, which defeats the whole point of finding a colorless diamond in my mind. Platinum is more durable than gold, too, so it holds the diamond more securely. White gold isn't naturally white like platinum, so you may encounter the same color issue once the ring's plating wears away.
